John Howard Ogden, 67, of Red Wing died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 2, 2024 in Red Wing. John was born on July 20, 1956 to Edward Frank and Katherine Marie (Siewert) Ogden in Red Wing, Minnesota. He served in the Navy. John was married and later divorced.
John worked in maintenance the majority of his life; most recently retiring from the St. James Hotel. He truly was a jack of all trades. He lived in many places, including California, Washington, and Montana. His love for his family and home state always brought him back to Minnesota though. In his free time he enjoyed time on the river and was currently planning a post-retirement trip via boat down the Mississippi to Louisiana, music- whether listening to or working on honing his self-taught musical skills on drums, guitar, harmonica and piano, tinkering in his garage, time spent with family and grandkids, socializing with his friends as his strongly forged friendships were paramount to him. John was a giver and loved to help people with any task they my have. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Edith Ogden and Elmer and Mildred Siewert; his father, Edward Ogden Sr.; his sisters, Janice (Ogden) Holly and Pamela Ogden; sons, Benjamin "Beau" and Justin Ogden; grandson, Nathyn Ogden; nieces, Ellen Schuh and Laura Ogden; nephews, Jamie Roberts and Justin Ogden.
