Jon “Tinger” Drew Tingblad, age 63, of Red Wing, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on April 10, 1962, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to Peter and Marjorie (Woodward) Tingblad. During his early childhood, the family moved to New Richmond, Wisconsin. Jon was a well-rounded student, active in football, basketball, and tennis. He was also a talented trombone player, performing in concert band, jazz band, and marching band. A highlight of his youth was performing at President Jimmy Carter’s inauguration with his high school marching band.

After graduating from New Richmond High School, Jon attended the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire before transferring to the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. On February 14, 1986, he married Mary Steinke in Kellner, Wisconsin, and together they had a son, Andy.

Jon built a career in the computer technology industry, working in both technical support and sales. His passion for technology extended beyond work—he was an avid reviewer of tech products and always eager to explore the latest innovations. A fan of Japanese animation and its music, Jon also composed original pieces of his own. He was a longtime coin collector and a dedicated sports fan who rarely missed a game, proudly cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, Wild, and Twins.

In 2016, Jon moved from Las Vegas to Hudson, Wisconsin, and then to Red Wing, Minnesota, to be closer to family.

Jon is survived by his son, Andy; his mother, Marge Tingblad; his brother, Kirk (Joan Balcome) Tingblad; his sister-in-law, Chris Canino; his nieces and nephews, Trent and Derek Tingblad, Crystal Staub, and Marina Tingblad; and his ex-wife, Mary Tingblad. He was preceded in death by his father, Pete Tingblad, and his brother, Todd Tingblad.

The family would like to thank the compassionate and dedicated staff and nurses at Red Wing Downtown Plaza for their care and support.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family plans to honor Jon with a dedicated bench in his hometown of New Richmond, Wisconsin.
