Joyce A. Freiburg

Joyce Ann Freiburg, 79, of Lake City, Minnesota, died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, December 27, 2025. She was born March 11, 1946, in Lake City, to Frank and Della (Vosler) Kirtz. She grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964. For over 40 years, she worked at the Red Wing Shoe Company in the fitting department and after retirement, worked part-time at DBI/SALA.  Joyce enjoyed deer hunting with family and turkey hunting with her husband Gary and their friend, Ted Steffenhagen. She loved putting miles on her flowers by moving and transplanting them often, along with gardening and puzzles. She and her husband Gary enjoyed taking trips to Mobridge, SD to fish for walleye over the years. Gary passed away in December 2023. Though her passing was unexpected, her family was grateful to have shared time with her over the recent holidays. She was a wonderful person who will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her son, David Freiburg; daughter, Kathy (Guy) Martindale; grandchildren, Andrew, Sarah (Chris) and Emily Freiburg and Megan and Nicole Martindale; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Brielle and Drake; siblings, Rod (Linda) Kirtz, Shirley Kirtz, Nancy Binner and Janiel Poncelet and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gary and 2 brothers-in-law, Greg Poncelet and Doug Stephens.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
