Judith Irene Nielsen passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones due to complications of ALS. She was born in Buffalo, MN on January 5, 1946. She was proceeded in the death of her parents Ray and Lorrane Sieg and brothers Mike and Melvin. She is survived by her husband Paul, twin brother Jerry, sister Connie, and children Mark Nielsen (Stacy Bystrom) and Melissa Ryden.
Judi graduated from Farmington, MN in the class of 1963 and moved to Ellsworth, WI in 1970 where she retired as a Secretary from English Lutheran Church.
Judi's life was anchored in her family and friends. She shared a deep and abiding love with her husband, Paul Nielsen, whom she met while being swept away on horseback and became one on July 6, 1963. Through their time while Paul was deployed, Judi made countless friends that turned into family in the military community. Their union brought forth two children: Mark and Melissa. In her later years, Judi relished her role as a grandmother, showering love and attention to her three grandchildren: Morgan (Ryan) Charles, Madelyn Nielsen (Travis Salava), Brooklyn Ryden (Carter Peterson), two great-grandchildren: Presley and Nash Salava and one great-grandchild she was looking forward to meeting. Judi has many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends that were also deeply loved.
A passionate seamstress, Judi found peace and contentment in creating. Her knowledge in baking and crafts was extensive. Volunteering with a variety of organizations one of many favorites was her time teaching children in 4-H how to sew and knit. Through her Ju Ju's Suits etc, swimsuit business, she brought lots of smiles to people with that perfect fit swimsuit! Her donation of her handmade quilts as well as masks to police departments, care centers and hospitals was evidence of her unwavering love for her community. Judi took pride in her beautifully maintained perennial garden which was a testament to her green thumb. Her other joys included traveling to Marco Island where she was known as the Queen of Marco by many of her Marco family. She loved playing cards, savoring anything with chocolate in it, and spending time with her cat Phoebe.
Judi's legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have known her. Her kindness, integrity, and devotion to her family and friends will be forever cherished.
The family plans to hold a celebration of life on March 24, 2024 from 1-4 pm to honor Judi's memory at Ridgetop Event Center in Prescott Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the
