Judith “Judy” Willa Pierce, 83, of Cannon Falls, died peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2024 at the Cannon Rivers Senior Living in Cannon Falls, where she has resided for the past 4 years. She was born on May 2, 1941, in Fairmont, Minnesota to Wallace and Sophie (Bents) Stockdill and graduated from Fairmont High School. On February 17, 1961, she was married to Walter “Swede” Pierce in Fairmont. They lived in Fairmont for several years before moving to Randolph, Minnesota in 1969. While in Randolph, she was a bus driver for Randolph Schools and was a phone operator at Carleton College in Northfield. She and Swede moved to a hobby farm in Northfield in 1986, where she worked at Sheldahl for many years. They moved to Cannon Falls in 2002, where she has lived ever since. Judy was a past member of the Eagles Club, and she enjoyed bird watching and music. Her family recalls how she loved being around her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and to the children that she and Swede were foster parents for over the years. She will be dearly missed.
Judy is survived by her two daughters, Julie Fox of Brainerd and Penny Taube of Cannon Falls; five grandchildren, Paul (Lacey) Fox, Dayne (Jennah) Fox, Mikinzie (Kaitlyn) Fox, Lukas (Hayley) Taube and Aftin (Mitch) Otto; 15 great grandchildren, Layla and Annie Fox; Ezmae, Ace and baby Fox, Carter and Cecelia Bridge; Macy Halbert and Kohen Erickson; Kooper, Kaden and Kohen Taube; Willa, Wren, Winnie and Walter Otto; one sister, Karen (David) Olson of Fairmont; several nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, Lucille Pierce, brothers-in-law, Frank Landsteiner and George Pierce. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter “Swede” Pierce in 2015; brother, James Stockdill; sister-in-law, Patricia Stockdill; brother-in-law, Ralph Pierce; and sisters-in-law, Janice Landsteiner and Sharon Pierce.
A private burial will be at the Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont at a later date. Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing.
The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to all the staff at Cannon Rivers for the love and care they provided to Judy these past four years.
