Judy Lynn Kliewer, 69, of Red Wing, died peacefully, Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Our Lady of Peace Hospice and Home Health Care. She was born November 18, 1956, in Fairmont, Minnesota, to Maynard and Alice (Schultz) Jensen. In 1975, she graduated from Fairmont High School, where she had been a part of the choir and ovation choir. Her love for music and singing continued through her life, and she often had been a part of her church choirs. On September 6, 1975, she married Donald Kliewer and they lived in Fairmont. One of Judy’s first jobs was as an egg grader at Mallon Eggs in Fairmont. In 1977 they moved to Mapleton, MN. She went to school and became a legal secretary, then began working for Johnson Moonan Walker and Smith Law Firm. She and Don returned to Fairmont, where she worked for Erickson Zierke Kuderer and Madsen Law Firm until she and Don started their family and she was a stay-at-home mom for 6 years. She then worked for the Fairmont School District for several years, both in the high school and elementary schools. In 2006 they moved to Red Wing, where she worked for the Red Wing Visitor and Convention Bureau and Red Wing Development and Housing Authority, retiring in 2022. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fairmont; St. John Lutheran Church, Good Thunder and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek. Judy was a kind and caring person, very friendly and always able to make a new friend. She enjoyed taking family vacations to Lutsen and Grand Marais and she especially loved being grandma to her five grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Don Kliewer, of Red Wing; 3 children, Andy Kliewer of Red Wing, Erich (Amy Meyer) Kliewer of St. Louis Park and Elyse (Brendan) Heine of Red Wing; grandchildren, Marlo, Norah, Eli, Ila and Ava and a brother, James (Sheila) Jensen of Fairmont. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek with Reverend Dr. Lowell Sorenson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Monday, February 2, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
