Julie Root

Born June 13, 1962, in Minneapolis, MN to Harlan & Catherine (Friedrich) Root. She died of natural causes at her home in St. Paul, MN on September 22nd, 2025.

Julie graduated from Churchill High School in 1980, then received her bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from Stephens College in 1984. Julie lived in San Antonio until moving to St. Paul, MN in 2006. She ventured back to college, graduated and earned degrees from Thurgood Marshall Law School in Houston and Environmental Law in Oregon and after took her Minnesota Bar to practice law in MN.

Julie loved spending time with family and friends at the family cabin in Wacouta at Friedrich's Point. She traveled often to visit her siblings in Texas and her parent(s) in Brainard, NY where she helped garden and enjoyed the beautiful farm.

Julie had a passion for gardening when a garden presented itself, she loved making beautiful jewelry, often gifting thoughtful creations to surprise family and friends. She enjoyed watching movies, reading all things environmental and debating all things politics -If you dared to disagree with Julie she would state her beliefs and wouldn't waiver.

Julie is remembered as being the life of any party, fiercely loving and protecting those around her and boldly chasing after life and adventure. Once you earned her trust and respect, you had a loyal friend for life in Julie.

Julie is survived by her father, Harlan Root, siblings; Susie Root, David (Laurie) Root, Willie (Monica) Root. Nephews: Travis (Ellie) Kiker, Mason (Moriah) Root, Nelson (Elizabeth) Root & Kaden Erie. Nieces: Laura (Seth) O'Brien & Maddie (Karson) Kuntz. Great Nieces & Nephews; Lucy, Alice, Josaiah, Gustavo & Isabella. She was preceded in death by her mother Catherine B Root and maternal grandparents John and Frances Friedrich and paternal grandparents Franklin and Alice Root.

Memorials are preferred to the Sierra Club (sierraclub.org). A service will be held at a later date.
