Katherine Elizabeth Wells

Katherine Elizabeth Wells, 38, a member of the Prairie Island Indian Community, died Tuesday, August 18, 2026, South Saint Paul. She was born on June 14, 1988 in Red Wing, Minnesota to Randy DeFoe and Karen Wells-DeFoe. Katherine liked to travel and was skilled at crafting.

She is survived by her siblings, Rosalind (Eric) Walker, Madeline Wells, Alex Wells, Austin Owen and Jennifer Owen; uncles, Ray and Cliff Owen; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, Erik Wells, Erika Wells, Nicholas Western Boy; parents, Karen Wells-Defoe, and Randy Defoe; grandparents, Gertrude and Wallace Wells, Sr., Amos (Ione) Owen; uncles, Wallace (Linda) Wells JR. Dwight Wells, Clayton Wells, Randy Wells, Art Owen, Mike Owen, and Duffy Owen; and aunts Brenda Owen, and Linda Owen.

Procession from the Owen residence at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026. Visitation will begin Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Prairie Island Community Center and continue until the time of the service on Saturday. Funeral service will be 12 noon, Saturday, August 22, 2026 at the Prairie Island Community Center.
