Kathryn J. “Kathy” Hollman, age 82, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Methodist Campus in Rochester, Minnesota.
Kathy was born on December 25, 1942, in Lanesboro, MN, to William and Junice (Rein) Stork. She graduated from Harmony High School in 1960 and went on to earn her teaching degree from Winona State University. On June 11, 1966, she married Roger Hollman at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City. Together, they built a loving family and a life centered on school activities, community, and faith.
Kathy dedicated 22 years to teaching physical education in the Lake City school system, with a special focus on adaptive physical education for children with special needs. She loved that role deeply and approached it with compassion, patience, and a heartfelt commitment to each child’s growth and joy. Her impact on students and families in the community continues to be felt today.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patricia Stork; and her brother, Michael Stork. She is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Roger; two sons, John (Christine) of Rochester and Joseph (Belinda) of Maple Grove; six grandchildren: Sydney, Gabriel, Cecelia, Benjamin, Elliot, and Samuel Hollman; three sisters: Colleen Arch, Janet (Jay) Fedder, and Julie (Jim) Mosier; two brothers: Bill and Ed Stork; and many nieces and nephews.
Kathy found great joy in spending time with family and friends. She was a proud and enthusiastic supporter of her grandchildren’s activities and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. She enjoyed good card games with a glass of wine or beer, sunny days on the golf course, fishing trips to northern Minnesota, winters in Arizona, and travels shared with lifelong friends. Whether playing Farkle with Roger or preparing one of her abundant family meals, Kathy’s generous spirit and zest for life were ever-present. She also enjoyed quiet moments reading or working on puzzles.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Lake City, with Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A Celebration of Kathy’s Life will follow from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Lake City VFW.
In honor of Kathy’s lifelong dedication to her faith and her students, memorials may be directed to the First Lutheran Church Building Fund, the Lake City Education Foundation, or Scotland Cemetery, where generations of her family rest.
