Kelly Preble, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 20, 2025, at her home in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota.
Kelly was born on September 15, 1963, in Estherville, Iowa, to LaVerne and Harlene (Hugo) Guinn. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1982 and went on to earn her degree from Red Wing Technical College in 1988.
On May 27, 1995, Kelly married Daniel Preble at the United Methodist Church in Lake City. Over the years, Kelly held many side jobs, including waitressing at local cafés and bartending at neighborhood establishments. Her main career, however, was as a payroll specialist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where she proudly worked for over 20 years.
Kelly was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her warmth, generosity, and sense of humor touched everyone she met. She had a unique ability to make people feel seen, heard, and loved — whether through a kind word, a quick joke, or simply being present when it mattered most. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought so much light and laughter into her life.
Kelly cherished summers at Lake Miltona, where she and Dan spent time fishing and visiting with family. She also loved traveling with Tarla’s Travelers, creating lasting memories and friendships on every adventure. Active in her community, Kelly was involved in several local groups, including the Association for Spousal Support through the Zumbro Falls Fire Department, as well as many other community functions.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jena Kutina and Crissy (Lucas) Passe; and by her beloved grandchildren, Carleen Jones, Melissa Guinn-Jones, Parker Loechler, Elliette Passe, and Daniel Passe. She is also survived by her siblings Lonnie (Mike) Guinn, Brenda (Bob) Dutton, Belinda (Terry Ryks) Nemmers, and Vance (Lisa) Guinn; and her sisters-in-law, Lisa Preble and Sara (Hailey, Miguel) Sanchez. Kelly also had many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. In addition to her family, she leaves behind many dear friends whose lives were deeply touched by her kindness, laughter, and unwavering friendship.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dan Preble; her parents, LaVerne and Harlene Guinn; her brother, Brian Guinn; her sister, Susan Guinn; her aunt, Burnetta Cummins; her uncle, Dale Cummins; and her brother-in-law, Dale Preble.
