Obituary

Kenneth H Ferguson, 85, of Lake City passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the Lake City Care Center.

Kenneth was born on April 5, 1940 in Mitchell County, IA. to Harold & Laura (Brockney) Ferguson. Kenneth grew up in Riceville, IA., and graduated in 1958. He worked on the family farm until moving to Charles City, IA and worked for Oliver Corporation. Kenneth married his wife Shirley Lichtblau on April 20, 1963 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City. To this union they welcomed three daughters. They lived in Charles City for a short time and then moved back to Riceville, where they purchased a farm. He had a passion and talent for farming. In 2006, they moved into Riceville where he continued to work for local farmers and mentored two young men. In February of 2022, they moved to Lake City to be closer to family.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Shirley of 63 years; his daughters, Julie (Rich) Schneider of Kasson, MN., Wendy (Kevin) Robinson of Cannon Falls, MN., Kerri (John) Jolley of Cedar Rapids, IA.; 4 grandchildren, Bruce (Rachel) Schneider of Mankato, MN., Alana (Evan) Heather of Kasson, MN., Kelli Schneider of Roseville, MN., Derek Robinson and girlfriend Sarah Erickson of Hastings, MN.; 1 great grandchild, Eli Heather; sister, LaVonne (Ron) German of Altoona, IA., and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Darrel & Dorothy Ferguson; a sister, Shirley Ann Ferguson and nephew, Doug Ferguson.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 11 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City. The Reverend Rob Robbert will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City. On-Line Condolences may be placed at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
