Kenneth LeRoy Hoffman, age 98, passed away November 5,2026 at Elysian care facility in Lake City, MN with his wife Edith E. Hoffman, 76 years, near his side. We lost a great, kind and loving man. Ken was loved by many friends and family members. We will always remember his sense of humor, his sensibility and the way he believed in treating his fellow man. Ken's treatment of people was with kindness, caring and forgiveness. He lived by the “Golden Rule”. Kenneth was born to Albert and Lillian Hoffman on June 22, 1928. He was raised with brothers Donald and Wayne on a farm just south of Red Wing, MN. Their family farm is now known by many as the Round Barn Farm Wedding Venue. Ken attended grades 1-8 in the Wacouta one room schoolhouse. He had a wonderful teacher in 7th and 8th grade that taught him a lot. She readied him for his 7th and 8th grade exams in which he did great. Ken graduated from Red Wing High School in 1946. He married Edith Elvera Anderson of Bay City, WI in 1950. Together they celebrated 76 wonderful years of marriage. After high school Ken went to work for US Gypsum here in Red Wing and later transferred to Torance, CA. He worked there for 26 years. Ken started out bagging insulation and ended up being a Quality Manager. Ken's hobbies were stained glass and woodworking. Ken made more than a 1,000 pieces. It was a real addiction. In 1973, Ken and Edie took a gamble and bought a tiny liquor store in Bullhead City, AZ. They named it Ken’s Liquors and was known for being the most successful independent liquor store in the state of Arizona. He boasted that they always had the coldest beer and he had the best price on Whiskey. His motto was “Our business is to keep you in the best of spirits." He would often comment to his customers, “If you don’t like it bring it back and I will drink it.” For several years the Hoffman's ran a paddle boat name the “Little Belle” in Bullhead City, AZ. Following the sale of the liquor store and the paddleboat, Ken and Edie enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada in their 40-foot motor home. Later they settled into a beautiful condo in Lake City, before moving to Elysian Assisted Living Center. They are also members of First Lutheran Church of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Lillian Hoffman, brothers Wayne and Donald Hoffman.
He will be missed by his many family members and friends. Thank you to Dr. Hinderaker, Elysian and St. Croix Hospice for their love, care and support. His loving care team over numerous years include: Linda and Dave Buysse, Doug and Karen Torseth, Fred Mohn (deceased), Cheryl Mohn, Bruce and Wendy Torseth, and Bill Hoffman and Ann Beauseigneur.
