Kenneth Frank Rueber, age 89, of Pine Island, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Cottagewood Senior Living Community in Rochester, Minnesota.
Kenneth “Ken” Frank Rueber was born on October 3, 1936, in Rochester, Minnesota to Roger Frank and Mary (Morrow) Rueber. Ken was raised by his grandparents, Frank and Ella Rueber. He graduated high school and got his certification in Boilers. Ken farmed for many years, worked for Pulvers Towing Company, and served in the police reserves in Rochester. He was also known by many at the Rochester Public School’s as “Mr. Rueber” as he worked on roofing, grounds crew, and as a custodian. Many would say that Ken was a jack of all trades.
Kenneth Frank Rueber and Mardelle Jean Wessman were united in marriage on June 25, 1960 at the Covenant Church in Rochester, Minnesota. Ken's pride and joy was involvement with his children and grandchildren, often taking them along on road trips, or camping at fairs and festivals. Ken and Mardelle appreciated getting away to Texas in the winter, often enjoying several weeks away from the cold weather in Minnesota. Ken drove a team of horses for the Wagon Train and would often take the grandkids along. He also loved tractor drives, horses, and salmon fishing trips in Michigan.
Ken is survived by his three children, Sherril Waller, Steve (Tallie) Rueber, and Connie (Jacob) Peterman; four grandchildren, Zachary (Theresa) Waller, Jessica (Vince) Rueber, Anthony (William) Mecl, Shelby (Ben) Rueber; three great grandchildren, Olivia, Savannah, and Emmett; sister, Mary Ellen Thirtle; and two sisters-in-law, Ann Eickmann and Darlene (Dave) Henderson. He was preceded in death by his wife Mardelle; parents; grandparents, Frank and Ella Rueber; daughter, Karen Lohmann; and his brothers, Lloyd Rueber and Robert (Jackie) Rueber.
