Ken Stechmann, age 74, of Lake City passed away on January 7, 2012 at the Lake City Care Center. He was born on January 11, 1937 in Red Wing, MN to Henry and Gertrude (Zemke) Stechmann of Zumbrota. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Ken graduated from Zumbrota High School and the University of Minnesota in St Paul. He was employed at Kraft Foods and after retirement for the Pearl of the Lake. Ken married Susan Youngdahl in Michigan on November 22, 1969. They resided in Cadillac, MI, Dale, IN, Beaver Dam, WI and Lake City, MN. Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting, beekeeping, trapping and biking.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Susan Stechmann; three children, Pam of Bettendorf, IA, Heidi of Lake City, and John (fiancé Karla Bigham) of Cottage Grove; one grandson, Elijah; one brother Don (Jeanne) of Red Wing; sister in law, Karen Stechmann; sister, Beverly (Bob) Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wayne.
Memorial service will be on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Dennis Valleau and Reverend Daniel Kroll officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, January 13 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at a later date.
