Kevin Lee Smith, 66, of Red Wing, Minnesota, died Saturday, November 15, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 1, 1959, to Roslyn and Verl Smith in Red Wing. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1978 and continued his education at Rochester Technical College with a degree in carpentry. With his carpentry skills, he worked on many single and multi-level homes. In 1980 he married Cheryl Westphal and they later divorced. In 2013, he married Amy Salmonson. Out of this marriage, Kevin gained a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jason and a granddaughter, Chloe. Kevin began working for the Red Wing Fire Department as a firefighter/EMT/paramedic in 1988, where he worked until his retirement in 2014. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. His favorite times were up north at the cabin spending time with family, especially his granddaughter, Chloe.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Smith; daughter Lisa (Jason) Davis; granddaughter, Chloe Davis; siblings: Curt (Nancy) Smith, Everett (Carolyn) Smith, Lee (Cheryl) Smith, Ken (Shelly) Smith, Jeanelle Fosberg, Beverly Radel, Barb Gernentz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jon (Yvonne) Salmonson and Lori (John) Bowen and nieces and nephews, Asa (Rita Meservey) Gronquist, Matt, Mike and Megan (Taylor Kimble) Bowen and Noah and Maria Salmonson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Burton, Jerrol, Lyle and Roger Smith, Laural Hinck, Nyra Banitt and Kathy Gronquist.
A private family service and burial at Oakwood Cemetery is being held. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Hospice or Red Wing ELC. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
