Kirk D. Vogel

Kirk Daniel Vogel, 56, died unexpectedly, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. He was born April 12, 1969, in Minneapolis, to Gerry and Shirley (Hannekamp) Vogel. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1988. Kirk was a true “jack of all trades” working mainly as a carpenter and a mechanic--he could fix, make and tinker with anything. He was collector of treasures (maybe others might have thrown it out as junk) but he’d keep it just in case, ‘cause you never know when you might need it, and Kirk could eventually find a way to use it! He was always there to help his friends, neighbors and community in any way he could. He had a huge heart, especially when it came to kids, and he loved fixing up old or broken bikes and giving them to kids that needed one. Kirk married Jennifer Butenhoff on May 17, 2003 and the two had moved to Red Wing in 1998. Together they raised their daughters and Kirk always loved teasing them. When Kirk wasn’t making or fixing things, he enjoyed RC cars, guns, dirt bikes, video games, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his girls and his friends.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Jennifer Vogel; children, Brittany (Mark), Nicole (Derek) and Amber (Alex); his father, Gerry (Marty) Vogel; adopted brother, Andy (Taren) Young and their daughter Daminica; mother-in-law, Lindy Butenhoff; an aunt Ruth and several other aunts, uncles and cousins; his best friends, Brad (Jamie) Roschen, Ron (Margie) Schumacher, Mike Orr, Rick Contardi and Jeremy (Jodie) Miller; his little buddy, Jaxon and his “babies” Sky, Brandy, Gizmo, Gidget, Matilda and Bullet.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his mother, Shirley; his aunt Kay and an uncle.

A celebration of life for Kirk is being planned and details will be provided when available. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson Mahn Chapel.
