LaDora Geraldine Bremer, 95, passed away at the Elysian Senior Home in Lake City on February 29, 2024.

 

LaDora was born Feb. 17, 1929, in Minneapolis MN. to Howard and Margaretha (Panzlof) Boley. Her family moved to Excelsior MN at a young age to a farm on Minnewashta Parkway. She attended Victoria grade school then high school at Excelsior. After high school she attended the School of Agriculture at the University of MN and took a course in Practical Nursing. In school she played the clarinet in band and went on many band trips. She worked in Excelsior at a Drug Store while in school. While at Ag School she met and married Willard Bremer on October 23, 1949. They were married 61 years until his passing in 2010.    They lived in rural Lake City where they farmed for 25 years. They raised nine children, four boys and 5 girls. She had a total of 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was a busy homemaker on the farm, gardening acres of produce to feed her family.  She sewed a majority of her family’s clothes, would make dozens of loaves of bread at a time. She raised chickens, ducks and geese (that terrorized some of her kids).   She was very active in many local organizations throughout her life well into her 80’s including 4-H, Church Alter Guild and Ladies Aide at St Johns Church, women’s club. She held many positions on the Hospital Auxiliary and crocheted many baby bonnets and baby blankets for newborns. She also sold Avon for 25 years. She quilted many blankets for the church charities and made special quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She and Willard were very active grandparents, always open to giving their time and love. Grandma gave the best hugs.

 

LaDora is survived by her children: Sandra Bremer-Northfield, James (Donna)-Elk River, Susan Conant-Rochester, Ronald (Carla) - Lubbock TX, Martha (Paul) Meyer -Wabasha, Thomas -Lake City, Debra (Mark) Grimley Bremer-Lake City, Monica (Jerry) Lehnartz-Kellogg MN. Her siblings: Marjorie (Roger) Larson and Jerold (Jeanette) Boley. 17 Grandchildren: Matthew Bremer (Amber), Becky (Ben) Wolcyn, Jeremy (Holly) Bremer, Johanna (Steevenson) Jean, Kelly (Andrew) Conant, Ben, Bradley, Betsy Bremer, Casey (Christopher) Aitken, Jacob Meyer, Taylor (Jared) Groth, Trista (Justin) Bremer, Thomas (Jaimie) Schmidt, Samantha (Lucas) Grieves, Sara (Hunter) Friesen, Tabitha Ritchie Jones, Toni Ritchie. 20 great grandchildren.

 

La Dora was preceded in death by her husband Willard, a son Larry, daughter in law Jane Bremer, and grandson Jesse Conant.

 

LaDora will be remembered for her easy smile, her caring and giving spirit, and her love of family and God.

 

Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8th, 2024 at 2 p.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City. Reverend Nathan Cordes will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
