Lauretta Jean Klingsporn, 92, of Pine Island, died Monday, December 1, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System, St. Marys Campus. She was born on December 13, 1932, in New Haven Township, Olmsted County to Wesley and Ella (Kaul) King. She went to District 32 school in New Haven Township until the 8th grade, then attended Rochester schools and graduated from Pine Island High School in 1950. For a short time, she worked for Dr. Olsen and Attorney, Plato Sargent. She met a young man, Duane Klinsporn, at a church group meeting and after two years of dating they married on May 14, 1952, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oronoco. They were blessed with six children. They farmed for many years east of Pine Island before moving into Pine Island in 1996. Duane died on September 30, 1999.
Lauretta was a lifelong active member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and for over 50 years a 4H leader for the Lena Sparks Club. She was a wonderful baker and cook. Not only raising her family, she kept busy tending to three gardens, sewing clothes for her family and making cakes for weddings, graduations and birthdays. She also enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, reading recipe books, dancing and playing cards.
Lauretta is survived by her six children, Charlene (Bill) Schaefer of Burnsville, Marcia (Steve) Matthees of Mazeppa, Nancy Staub of Pine Island, David (Linda) Klingsporn of Pine Island, Joseph (Elizabeth) Klingsporn of Pine Island and Jennifer (Dan) Mulholland of Rochester; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; one sister, Uneda King of Rochester; sisters-in-law, Joan Koenig of Rochester and Viola Klingsporn of Zumbrota along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kenneth King; grandson, Alex Klingsporn and son-in-law, Steve Staub.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oronoco. Burial will be at the Pine Island Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church or donor’s choice. Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Mahler Chapel in Pine Island.
