A memorial service for Lawrence Helmer Lawson will be held Friday December 9th at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo.  The Rev. Larry was born September 23, 1951 in Faribault, the son of Lloyd Helmer Lawson and Agnes Arlene (Qualle) Lawson.  Raised in the Kenyon – West Concord area, he was a graduate of West Concord High School.  He attended Voc. Tech college in Faribault and was trained in welding.  Though his first marriage ended in divorce, on June 19, 1987 he married Teresa Wallaker in Red Wing and the couple celebrated 35 years of marriage together.  Larry spent some years installing drain tile.  And, for about 20 years, he worked at Cannon Equipment in Cannon Falls as a press operator.  He retired at the age of 62.

Upon retirement, he enjoyed camping, the annual Lake of Woods fishing trip, hunting, gardening, morning coffee at McDonalds with his friends, cutting grass, and especially time spent with his grandkids.  He was known for his cooking, especially Norwegian traditional specialties such as klub and lefse.

He is survived by his wife Teresa Lawson of Zumbrota; sons Laramy (Kristen) Lawson of Good Thunder, Benjamin (Chelsea) Lawson of Zumbrota, Peter Lawson of Zumbrota; a daughter Elizabeth (Braden St. Martin) Lawson of Crawfordville, Florida; 9 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.  Also surviving are three sisters June (Alan) Van Hoff of Cape Canaveral, Florida, Mary Ellen Lawson of Kaukana, Wisconsin, and Gail (Mike) Trusty of Chatfield.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and a brother.
