Leslie "Les" Joe Drew, 74, of Red Wing, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2025, surrounded by family after a recent diagnosis of cancer.
Born on November 17, 1950, in Big Sandy, Montana, Les was the son of Dale and Lois Drew. As a young man, he answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Marine Corps. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Les served with honor and distinction. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat and was honorably discharged following his service.
After returning home from war, Les built a life rooted in hard work and dedication. He spent three decades as a truck driver. Les found joy in simple pleasures. A devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings, he rarely missed a game and cheered passionately for his team through every season. Les also enjoyed filling his time with skiing, fishing and western movies.
One of Les's greatest sources of pride was his family-especially his grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them. His bond with them was unmistakable; they were truly the light of his life.
He also maintained close ties with fellow Marines from his time in service. Catching up yearly with these lifelong friends brought him comfort and camaraderie throughout the years.
Les is survived by his beloved wife, Penny Drew; sons Zack Davis (Breazi) and Matthew Drew (Chelsey); daughter Holly Drew; brother Wade Drew (Lori); sister Gail McClellen (Larry); and eleven grandchildren: Damien, Lailah, Joseph, Bentley, Mariah, Leah, Sterling, Kaiden, Paige, Maverick, and Westley.
He was preceded in death by his son David Drew and his parents Dale and Lois Drew.
In accordance with Les's wishes, his ashes will be spread in remembrance-a fitting tribute to a man who lived freely and loved deeply.
