Linda Vagt, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Lake City on April 4, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Linda was born on April 12, 1951, in Lake City, to Robert & Audrey (Dammann) Lichtblau. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church and attended St. John’s school for 7th and 8th grade. Linda joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview, which was her mother’s childhood church. In 1969, she graduated from Lincoln High School and then completed training at Rochester Cosmetology College. Linda worked in cosmetology for Geri Colling in Red Wing before she opened her own beauty salon in Zumbro Falls. In 1973, she married Edwin Vagt Jr., and they later divorced. She was a stay-at-home mom for 10 years. After her divorce, Linda completed the Truck Driving Class at Red Wing Vo-Tech and went to work for Majerus Trucking in Bellechester hauling grain. Later on, she drove semi for North Star Asphalt of Rochester for 5 years and in 1990 was hired by the Minnesota Department of Transportation in Highway Maintenance. She retired from there in 2013 after 22 ½ years. Linda enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and others. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
Linda is survived by three children, Heidi (Dustin) Boettcher and their children Bryson and Abel of Plainview; Cory (Janelle) Vagt and their children Brendan and Tyler; Dusty Vagt and his children Kaylee and Noah, all of Lake City, and partner Cheyenne Lund and her daughter Nevaeh. Linda has two sisters, Pamela (Greg) Anderson of Lake City and Robin Lichtblau of New Prague, and also Marlene Reineke, a special family friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother Roland, and one grandchild although yet unborn was very much loved.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s Cemetery Fund or Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plainview, MN in Linda’s memory.
As per Linda’s request, a private family graveside service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustin Boettcher, Marlene Reineke, Brendan Vagt, Cory Vagt, Dusty Vagt and Tyler Vagt. Honorary Pallbearers are Abel Boettcher, Bryson Boettcher, Kaylee Smith, and Noah Vagt.
