Lori Sue Anderson, age 67, of Red Wing, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at Loving Residence Assisted Living facility after a courageous battle with neuroendocrine cancer. Fittingly, she left us amidst the bright lights of the 4th of July fireworks - a beautiful reflection of her vibrant spirit and joyful heart.
Born on December 30, 1958, in Red Wing, Lori was the beloved daughter of Donald Alfred and Joyce Marie (Gielow) Anderson. Although she lived in various places throughout her life, her heart remained in her hometown of Red Wing, where she permanently returned in 2015. She married Steve Johnson in 1978, and together they welcomed three daughters. Though life later took them on separate paths, being a mother was a defining chapter of her life. She worked various jobs throughout her time, including Lawrence Motors and UnitedHealth Care, but her most proud role was being a stay-at-home mom. She retired in 2024 to focus on her cancer treatments. She spent her free time dining out with friends, traveling with her sisters, and above all, spending cherished time with her family, daughter and grandchildren.
To know Lori was to love her. She was a friend to everyone she met, blessed with a deeply loving and kind heart. Her sparkling blue eyes and a smile that could light up any room will be forever remembered, as will her wonderfully contagious laugh. A passionate Minnesota sports fan, she loved cheering on the Vikings and the Gophers, but nothing beat watching her granddaughter compete for the Wingers. She was a beloved aunt and cherished her many special relationships she had developed over the years.
Lori is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Plath, who was her dedicated caretaker and companion during her final journey; two grandchildren, Gavin and Gracie Plath; siblings Kristy (Dave) Hagner of Burnsville, Terry (Desmond) Sande of Welch, Scott (LuAnn) Anderson of Red Wing, Kim (Haven) Hadler of Minong, Wisconsin, and Donald Jr. of Edina; and a large circle of extended family and dear friends.
Lori was preceded in death by her loving parents, Donald and Joyce Anderson, and her nephew Joshua Bohmbach.
At her explicit request, no formal services will be held. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
