Luverne Lee

Luverne Elmer Lee, 90, of Red Wing, passed away, Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Valentines Assisted Living in Red Wing. He was born September 2, 1933, in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, to Gilbert and Charlotte (Husbyn) Lee. He attended country school in Welch and then attended Red Wing Central High School. As a young man, he began working for Paul Lawrence Construction, a job that would become a life-long career as a carpenter for him. Luverne was united in marriage to Darlene Strusz on October 18, 1952, and the couple made their home in Red Wing, where they were blessed with six children. In 1980, Luverne started his own construction company, Luverne Lee Construction, which he owned and operated until 1994, when he retired. He was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending his free time hunting, fishing and watching football games.

He is survived by his children, Linda (Dave) Olson of Red Wing, Diane (Dean) Carlson of Red Wing, Daniel (Dianne) Lee of Goodhue and Shelley Stevens of Dublin, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Kris Lee of Rochester; 10 grandchildren, Greg (Kristi) Carlson, Kelly Carlson, Matt (Katie) Olson, Eric Olson, Jenny Olson, Nick (Katie) Kurtti, Miranda (Andy) McNamara, Justin (Tarrah) Lee, Megan (Ben) Johnson and Brooke Stevens; 13 great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Arnold (Karen) Strusz and Lenny Strusz both of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1991; 2 sons, Steven and Scott Lee and 3 brothers, Robert Lee, Clarence "Butch" Lee and Gilmore Lee.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Mayo Red Wing Hospice.  Arrangements by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
