Red Wing

Margaret Virginia Banks, 95, of Red Wing, died peacefully on September 19, 2025 at her home. She was born February 12, 1930 in Lake City, Minnesota to Grant and Louise (DeFrang) Norton. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1947. On October 31, 1950, she married Arlan Banks. They made their home in Red Wing before moving to Vasa for 10 years. They belonged to Vasa Lutheran Church where they were active members. They then returned to Red Wing and were members of First Lutheran Church. Margaret volunteered many years at First Lutheran working on the church newsletter and as a volunteer for organizing and serving food at funerals. She worked in the office at Red Wing Pottery Sales Office for many years until her retirement. Besides spending time with her family, she loved playing cards and going out to eat, especially with her friends Janet and Betty.

She is survived by her children, Virginia Rollie of Georgetown, Texas and Jim (Lisa) Banks of Oronoco; grandchildren, Lisa (Rob) Castillo of Round Rock, Texas, Amy Rollie, and Kelly Rollie (James Greer) of Georgetown, Texas, Cameron (Jennifer) Banks of Rice, Jesse (Carly) Banks of Pine Island, and Matthew (Alexis) Banks of St. Cloud; great-grandchildren, Matthew (Jordan) Dowell, Karli Jackson, Colton, Austin and Adelynn Greer, Caelei, Dakota, Sierra, and Braden Banks, and Henry Banks; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Banks; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Arlan; son-in-law, Dan Rollie; infant great-grandchildren twins Mason and Jason; her parents; sister, Roxanne Matz; and brothers Donald Norton and Arnold DeFrang.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2025 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Quinlan Koch officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior. Memorials can be made to First Lutheran Church. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Online condolences can be left at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com .
