Mark Luther Anderson, 56, of Lake City, died at home on Saturday, February 10, 2024. 

He was born in Lake City on February 17, 1967 to Luther and Dorothy (Platte) Anderson. He attended schools in Lake City, graduating from Lincoln High School, class of 1985. After high school he attended VoTech in Red Wing before going on to work at an orchard, Lakes Gas, and finally, Culligan Water where he was working at the time of his passing. 

On June 11, 1994 he married Tammy Vieths at Christ Episcopal Church in Red Wing. The couple made their home in Lake City. 

Mark loved sports. He enjoyed watching football, baseball, and hockey. He was an avid bowler, bowling for 3 leagues; the Lake City Graphic, The VFW, and for Richardson Autobody. He played softball and enjoyed golfing in his free time. Family was the center of Mark’s life. He was a friendly person who was generous with his time, especially if it meant he could help someone. 

He will be missed by many, including his wife, Tammy of Lake City; sisters, Diane (Dave) Hardy of Goodhue and Carla (Chuck) Pelowski of Lake City; sisters-in-law, Judy Platte, Lisa (Sam) Kittleson and Holly Vieths, all of Lake City; mother-in-law, Janet Vieths of Lake City; and 4 nephews, Kris, Matt, Craig, and Danny; as well as close friend, Bart Wurst of Rochester. 

He is preceded in death by his brother, Morris Platte; brother-in-law, Dean Vieths, father-in-law, Clyde Vieths; as well as his parents and grandparents. 

Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Nathan Cordes officiating. Visitation will one hour prior to the service at church. Following the service at church there will be a Celebration of Life at the VFW in Lake City.
