Mary Terese Bluhm (née Schmidt), age 68, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Mary was born on July 28, 1957, to Thomas and Rita Marcella (Sexton) Schmidt.

Mary was fortunate to meet the love of her life in 9th grade. She and David Bluhm built a life together filled with love, family, and devotion. They would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on July 30th. For nearly 40 years, Mary worked in many roles at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester until her retirement in 2016. She was known for her kind heart and caring nature. Outside of work, Mary treasured family gatherings, enjoyed working on puzzles, watching her grandchildren play sports and simply loved being present with the people she cared about most.

Mary is lovingly survived by her husband, Dave; her children, Michelle (Terrill) Luhman of Zumbro Falls and John (Angie Herber) Bluhm of Kasson; and her cherished grandchildren, Paige and Wyatt Luhman, Avery Bluhm, and bonus grandson Trenton Bjerke. She is also survived by her siblings: Diane Walden of AZ; Sue Bee; Joe (Juli) Schmidt; Steve Schmidt; Gary (Vicki) Schmidt; David Schmidt; Paul (Julee) Schmidt; Karen (Chad) Collins, all of Lake City; and Rose (David) McNamara of Goodhue. Mary is further survived by her in-laws: Diane (Corey) Johnson of VA, Dennis (Diane) Bluhm, Bruce (Deb) Dugstad, all of Red Wing, Daryl (Linda) Bluhm of Zumbro Falls, and many nieces and nephews that she enjoyed visiting with.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her in-laws, Cleo and Alona Bluhm and sister/brother-in-law, Dana & Roger Reuper of CA.

Ever smiling Mary will be remembered for her quick wit, deep love for her family, and the joy she found in life’s simple moments. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Mass will be Friday, May 29th at at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s of The Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Father The Hoang officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and at the church and one hour prior to the service. She made the generous decision to donate her body to the Mayo Clinic in the hope of helping others through medical education and research.
