Mary Frances Shaw

Mary Frances Shaw, 88, of Red Wing, formerly of Belmond, died Saturday, June 5, 2026 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems - St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

She was born February 24, 1938 in Jewell, Iowa to Cort and Lucille Luick. On July 22, 1956 she married Donald Ray Shaw and the couple made their home in Iowa where Don worked for the Iowa Department of Transpiration for most of his career. Mary was a homemaker and together she and Don raised 5 children.

Both Mary and Don enjoyed volunteering with the Belmond Historical Society. She was particularly interested in her family's history and genealogy. They also enjoyed traveling together. Her favorite trips were to visit Alaska and Norway.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. In her later years she was an avid reader and helped support the library in the Downtown Plaza. She was an active member of her community, helping to host and plan events.

She will be missed by many, including her children; Kathy (Bruce) Martinson, Carl (Sara) Shaw, Connie Shaw, and Daniel Shaw; 4 grandchildren, Paul Martinson, Laurel (Michael) Carlson, Charlie (Maddie Malone) Shaw, and Anna Shaw; one great-grandchild, Cillian; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; one daughter, Elizabeth Shaw; siblings, Michael and Helen, and her parents.
