Matthew Schettl

Matthew David Schettl, 54, of Pine Island passed away April 27th 2023 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester Mn.

He was born on November 26th 1968 to Myron and LaVerne (Strauss) Schettl in Rochester. Matt attended Pine Island school for most of his years before graduating from Lourdes High School.  Matt then graduated from Winona Technical College in Auto Mechanics.
Matt worked in the Auto field for years before switching to a grounds and maintenance job at the Apache Mall. He most recently moving into the construction field at Elcor Construction.
Matt was very artistic, he enjoyed taking pictures of beautiful sunrises, going for walks, looking for fossils and other treasures on the ground.  Matt's other hobbies include hunting, fishing and painting.

Matt's proudest achievements are his daughters, Halie and Samantha. His older daughter Halie was born Oct. 17 1996 to him and his 1st wife Gretchen (Curtis) Schettl.
His younger daughter was born on Sept. 28th 2007 to him and his current wife Rochel (Tenold) Schettl.
Matt and Rochel met while they both worked at the Apache Mall.  They married on August 19th 2006 and made their home together out in the country just south of Pine Island.

Matt is Survived by his wife, Rochel; daughters, Halie Schettl (Winona) and Samantha Schettl (Pine Island); mother, LaVerne (Oronoco); sister, Andrea (Keith) Maxson (Pine Island); and brother, Eric Schettl (Pine Island).

Matt is preceded in death by an infant older sister, Theresa and his father, Myron.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel with a private memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
