Mavis Lerol

June 12, 1937 — June 8, 2025

Pine Island

Mavis Ann Lerol, 87, of Pine Island, died Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island surrounded by family. She was born on June 12, 1937, in Concord Township, Dodge County MN to Eugene and Rose (Day) Noser. She graduated from Pine Island High School. She married Frank “Bill” Avery and to this union Cindy and William were born. They resided in Santa Rosa, CA and she and Bill later divorced. Mavis, Cindy and William moved back to Minnesota in 1968. On November 22, 1969, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Lerol.  The two of them along with Cindy and William made many treasured memories together.   Mavis worked at Pine Haven Care Center for a few years and then various other businesses in Pine Island before working for 15 ½ years as a housekeeper at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Mavis was an active member of the Pine Island United Methodist Church and served on the funeral committee for a number of years. She volunteered for the local food shelf and as a home health aide. She looked forward to baking and cooking and was always willing to share the goods. Vegetable gardening was a favorite of hers, which would help make wonderful meals. Her family recalls that following every meal she would always have some sort of special treat. She was also famous for her “Grandma Mavis Bars.” As busy as she was, there was always time to go fishing and snowmobiling. She was a fan of Jeff Gordon and NASCAR racing along with Elvis and his music. She also had a gift of humor and storytelling, which always brought laughter to all. Most of all she enjoyed the opportunity to be surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Mavis is survived by her two children, Cindy (Tim) Sanborn of Mazeppa and William “Bill” (Mary) Avery of Pine Island; three grandchildren, Ashley (Erik) Lloyd, Taylor (Tiffany) Sanborn and Tanner Sanborn; seven great grandchildren, Kylar, Kashton, Kane, Frederick, Jane, Charles and Thomas; sister-in-law, Arlene Noser of Pine Island along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth on March 22, 2002; five brothers, Lyle, Carroll “Kelly”, Haven, Robert “Bob” Noser and Richard in infancy; two sisters, Leora Streiff and Delores “Sis” Gullickson; special niece, Mary Jean Geise and companion, Otto “Junie” Andrist.
