Maynard Ernest Miller, 87, of Hager City, died Tuesday at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. He was born April 23, 1919 in Goodhue, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Alvina (Korsten) Miller. The family moved to Wisconsin when he was 6 months old. He attended school in rural Bay City and worked on his family farm. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II from February 20, 1941 until July 5, 1945. He married Katherine Mann on April 27, 1916 at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Red Wing. They lived and farmed in Hager City. He also did carpentry work for the Carpenter?s Union from 1960 until retirement. He was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Red Wing. He enjoyed gardening and animals. Survivors include his wife, Katherine of Hager City; one sister, Florence Kellogg of Santa Rosa, California; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Melfred Miller and two sisters, Ruth Carscallen and Melinda Simonson. Funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at St. John?s Lutheran Church with Reverend Todd Engel officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Kimmen, Bruce Mann, Kenneth Budensick, Rick and Mike Sutherland, and Ron Moore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Kirk, Frank Cobb, Harold Roude, Herby Oberg, Wayne Knopic, Merwin Parr, and David Koch. Visitation will be 3-7 p. m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
