Methal Lenore Long Majorowicz of Rochester, Minnesota, our cherished mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend peacefully passed away on May 18, 2024 at the age of 101.
In 1923, Methal Long was born in Timber Lake, South Dakota, the third of five children to Laurence and Minnie Long. After graduating from high school, she attended Aberdeen College in South Dakota to pursue her teaching degree. Methal taught elementary school in South Dakota's rural country schools and in Winner, South Dakota.
Methal married husband Max Majorowicz in 1946. Leaving South Dakota in 1958 they settled in Rochester, Minnesota to raise their five children. Methal was a very busy mom and entrepreneur. She volunteered to lead young people in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and was involved in children's PTA. Methal worked as a Welcome Wagon Hostess, sold Stanley products, was a Shaklee supervisor, and worked for the Mayo Civic Center.
Methal's softball league days would serve her and the neighborhood children well as she would often be seen wearing her kitchen apron hitting fly balls to the neighborhood youth. She was an awe-inspiring and tireless lady! She had little time for TV; instead pursued flower gardening and raising beautiful violets; of which she won her share of blue ribbons.
Methal will be remembered for her amazing resilience to life's challenges and always putting her family and others first. Her home was always open to all; whether it be a meal, a place to sleep, or an ear to listen. She surrounded everyone with her caring nature, her contagious smile, and her ability to connect with others. She made it easy for people to talk and share their stories. Her compassionate wisdom was always appreciated and welcomed. Methal's love and her clever nostalgic quips will continue to influence us for generations to come. Methal will be dearly missed by all.
Methal is survived by four of her children and their spouses, Barry Majorowicz (Carole France) of Seattle, Washington, Cheryl Cutshall (Dan) of Rochester, Minnesota, Mark Majorowicz (Vicki) of Rochester, Minnesota, Sandy Dailey (John) of Mesa, Arizona, daughter-in-law Pat Majorowicz Geier of Rochester, Minnesota, her nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Methal was preceded in death by her husband Max Majorowicz, her son Rodney Majorowicz, her three brothers, and her sister.
An informal Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday June 21, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, 1624 37th Street NW in Rochester. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Seasons Hospice, 1696 Greenview Dr SW - Rochester, MN 55902, would be greatly appreciated.
A warmhearted thank you to Samaritan Bethany Home on 8th for their care and support of Methal over the last few years.
