Michael James Augustine, died unexpectedly, while at work on Monday December 29, 2025. He was born on November 4, 1972, in Red Wing to Jim and Barb (Gorman) Augustine. He graduated from Goodhue High School in 1991, and then attended Mankato Technical College for Farm Business Management graduating in 1993. Michael was an organic crop farmer and also worked for Steve Dankers Trucking and Farm Repair shop. Mike loved being a farmer and farm life. He was always grateful to be able to do the work he loved. He participated in many antique tractor pulling contests and enjoyed his antique tractor collection. He attended many farm shows including the Corn Shredding Autumn Harvest Days in Oak Center. Mike helped to organize this event and participated in the corn shredding contest. He was always grateful that he was able to do the work that he loved. Music was another passion for Michael. He played the trombone for a several years in the Zumbrota Community Band and played in the pit orchestra at the Sheldon Theatre for a couple of different plays. He had a beautiful singing voice which many people were able to enjoy. He enjoyed a good competitive game of cards, a cold Old Milwaukee, and always looked forward being around his family and many friends. He was a kind, humble person who worked hard and appreciated life.

Michael is survived by his mother, Barb of Red Wing; three brothers, Jeff (Sam) Augustine of Goodhue, Ben Augustine & Nicole Yuen of Colorado and Pete (Nikki) of Cannon Falls; nieces and nephews, Riley (Taylor) Augustine, Devon Hublit, Megan Augustine; Alexis, Sean and Everly Augustine; Hannah (Jerrett) Gangloff, Emily, and Wyatt Betzold; great niece, Ellowyn “Lil Red” Augustine along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim on July 28, 2021; his maternal grandparents John and Jeanette Gorman, paternal grandparents, Ray and Marion Augustine, and his uncle, Rev. James Gorman.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing with Father Brandon Theisen presiding. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Private family burial will be at St. Columbkill’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Goodhue, MN. Mike would want everyone to come dressed casually and comfortably in jeans, flannel shirts or bib overalls. Memorials are preferred to the Goodhue Education Association to be donated for agricultural education or donor’s choice.
