Michael Henry Koop

Michael Henry Koop, 35, of Zumbro Falls, MN passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. He was born to Michael and Marie (Bartel) Koop in Rochester, MN on May 5, 1990. Michael grew up in Pine Island, MN and graduated from Pine Island High School. Michael started working for Central Livestock since he was 16, and has continued working there for the past 19 years. Eventually, he decided to open his own business, Koop Livestock, working towards his dream of being his own boss. During his free time, he enjoyed bowling on a league team and watching sports. Michael was also known for supporting local causes with his financial support, and could always be found near the sales barn. More than anything, Michael loved his son, Milton, and looked forward to any time they got to spend together. He always loved going to Milton’s baseball games and playing video games with each other.

Michael is survived by his son, Milton Koop; parents, Michael (Marie) Koop; siblings, Brian Bartel, Jennifer Knude, Ashley (Aaron) Koop-Kruger, Mitchell (McKensi) Koop; grandparents, Milton (Marsha) Bartel, and Pat Jackson; 8 nieces and nephews; and many other friends and family members.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather Richard Koop; and his uncle Mark Bartel.

A memorial service for Michael will be held on Tuesday, December 30th at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island. A visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. There will also be a visitation on Monday, December 29, from 4-7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home – Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
