Michael Ratz

Michael Lawrence Ratz, 81, of Red Wing, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Red Wing with his family by his side.

He was born January 23, 1945 in Connersville, Indiana to Roman and Bernice (Thomas) Ratz. He served in the Indiana National Guard for six years. Michael was happiest when he was working on his projects, most importantly home improvement and woodworking. He was very passionate and took great pride in his work, he was always committed to whatever he was working on.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Teresa; children, Michelle (James) Ellis; Julie Robinson, Thomas (Jennifer) Ratz, Janelle (Byron) Cain, Michael David (Amy) Ratz; six grandchildren, Christopher Adam Ellis, Brittany (Evan) Patton, Eric Ratz, Bella Ratz, Gavin Cain and Cadan Cain; 8 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Rita (Phil) Ewers, and Nancy (Joseph) Brochin; as well as other family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Roberta Hobbs; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Stelter; brother-in-law, Wes Stelter; his parents, Roman and Bernice; and his beloved dog, Briley.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Rev. Bill Klavetter officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior.
