Michelle McElmury, a cherished mother of three sons and a daughter, passed away on November 20, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love.
Michelle, 51, was born on April 10, 1972 to Terry Heimer & Joyce (Pruter) Burke. She grew up in Lake City, MN and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1990. She went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota, Morris with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary English Education and a minor in Speech Communication. She taught in Big Lake, MN before moving back to Lake City in 1995. She ran Home Essentials Design Center, then started teaching the Gifted and Talented program in Lake City. Michelle most recently was an English Language Arts teacher at River Bluff Education Center in Red Wing. She also founded Real Deal Home Buyer with her love, Nick.
She was a wonderful mother, raising four children that were the center of her universe. Her influence as a mother is evident in the joy, kindness, and resilience she instilled in each of her children. They will carry her spirit with them always.
She will be remembered for many attributes including her creativity and inspiration, her sense of humor, quick wit and contagious laugh, her attention to detail and design, her tireless work ethic, and her love of reading and walking outdoors. Michelle also had a special gift for inspiring young minds to creatively problem solve and loved helping her students succeed. She was greatly respected by students for her ability to relate to them on a personal level and for fostering a love of learning. Her memory will live on in the lessons she shared and the hearts she touched. It was a blessing to know and love her.
Michelle is survived by her loving family: 4 children, Cort (Macy) McElmury of Stoughton, WI, Braeden McElmury of Orlando, FL, Alec and Greyson McElmury of Lake City; parents, Terry (Pattie) Heimer of Lake City; boyfriend, Nick Feyereisen of Roberts, WI; boyfriend’s children, Tanner, Parker, and Cole Feyereisen of Roberts, WI; sister, Jenny (Ron) Galonsky of Laguna Hills, CA; stepsister Danielle (Tim) Hegge of Lake City; stepbrother Kirk (Stacie) Thornton of Lake City; stepfather Joe Burke of Janesville, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
