Patricia Jayne Allegar

February 10, 1946 — December 9, 2025

Ellsworth

Patricia Jayne Allegar, 76, of Ellsworth, formerly of New Richmond, died Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Preferred Senior Living in Ellsworth.

She was born February 10, 1949 in Milwaukee, Wisc. to Lloyd and Ruth “Peg” (Oliver) Drager. She attended Custer High School and graduated as part of the class of 1967. She went to receive her bachelors from UW River Falls and eventually earned her masters, also from UW River Falls.

In 1971 she married Larry Allegar and the couple made their home in New Richmond where Patricia began her 31-year teaching career. Patricia first taught 3rd grade, then 5th, and completed her career teaching 4th grade. In 1976 she and Larry welcomed their only daughter, Amy. Pat retired in 2003 when she and Larry moved to the Villages in Florida. While in Florida, Patricia worked as a reading coach in local schools. Larry passed away in 2005. Patricia continued to live at The Villages until 2010 when she moved back to New Richmond to be closer to her new grandchildren. In 2022 she moved to Preferred Senior Living in Ellsworth.

Patricia loved learning and she loved to teach. She was always excited about new science experiments and creative, hands on, teaching opportunities, even if it meant a stray rocket might start a small fire or two. She spent her summers teaching Aerospace classes and even went to space camp in Alabama. She was a member of the WEA and the NEA. She was also an active member of New Richmond Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.

While Amy was young, the family loved to travel so Larry could compete in fishing tournaments. Pat always made sure to show Amy as much of a new place as she could, making the most out of every trip, every time. She also loved the Wizard of Oz. The family would be sure to watch it every year. They also enjoyed seeing plays and musicals together.

She loved being a grandmother. There was nothing more she loved than spoiling her two grandsons. She loved dreaming up experiments, reading to them, and doing a little light shopping together on Amazon.

She was crafty. She enjoyed knitting and relaxing with a fancy coloring book. She liked playing cards and mahjong. During her time at Preferred, she loved helping decorate for holidays and making crafts for the other residents.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy (Kyle) Olson of Ellsworth; loving grandsons, Landon and Blake Olson; sister, Nancy Schuld; nephews, Jeff Schuld, Scott (Mandy) Schuld, and Andy (Laura) Schuld.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry and her parents.
