Patricia "Pat" Freda Allen (McGowan), 89, of Pine Island passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at the Edenbrook Pine Haven Care Center. Pat was born on March 1, 1937 to Fred Harrison and Freda Katherine (Wolfhart) McGowan at the family farm in West Concord, Minnesota.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Katherine Boyd; grandchildren, Jimmy (Tara) Hackett, Stefan Hackett, Rhiannon Moore, Mikala Tator, and Victoria Cruz; great-grandchildren, Alex Hackett and Joey Hackett; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Boyd; daughter, Stacy Moore-Hackett; former husbands, Merrill Boyd and Walker Moore; her parents, Fred and Freda; 12 siblings, Casius "Cash", Ralph "Rennie", Clifford "Fat", Harold "Scant", Margaret "Pug", Ivanell "Nellie", George "Shorty", Joseph "Blackie", James "Baggie", Donald "Buckshot", Mary "Babe", and Baby Charles; and her great-grandson, Carter Moore.
Pat lived for many years in the Seattle area working as a supervisor for a bulk mailing facility. Upon her retirement she relocated to her hometown of Pine Island MN where she became involved with the VFW, American Legion and the Seniors Center. Pat spent her life and her retirement living life to its fullest while throwing back a beer with her family and friends every chance she got, especially during events like the Kentucky Derby. She was an avid card player and could often be found playing 500 with friends around town. Pat loved to garden and spend time on the deck with her coffee watching the birds and listening to her country music.
A celebration of life will be held at the family home in Pine Island, Minnesota from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Burial will be held at a later date at Pine Island Cemetery. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Mahn Family Funeral Home, Mahler Chapel in Pine Island, Minnesota.
