Patricia Peterson

Our beautiful Patricia Ann (Freier) Peterson passed away on May 14, 2025, from a brief illness, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus in Rochester, MN. Patty passed with her husband by her side.

Patty was born in Red Wing, MN to Rynold and Lois (Diercks) Freier. Patty graduated from Red Wing High School and went on to clerical studies at Red Wing Area Vo-Tech and Hasting Beauty School for Nail Technology. Employment included Liberty’s Pizza, Red Wing Shoe Company, Auto Stop in Ellsworth, WI, and for 24 years, custodial care at Moeville Bethel Church. Patty also served as the Vice Chairman of Moeville Bethel Cemetery Board. Patty spent many years caring for her in-laws and her mother.

Patty met Duane during her high school years. They married on October 29, 1976. Patty had a fairy tale love with her husband Duane “Dew” Peterson of 48 years. They created the perfect county home on the farm that Duane grew up in, in Ellsworth, WI. Lavish gardens, gazebos, patios, and endless gorgeous flowers. She loved going for late night convertible rides with Duane. Patty loved to nurture her gardens and spend her time with loyal family and the lifelong friendships that still exist. Patty lost a piece of her heart in 2016 when Lois Freier, her mother, passed away. Patty and Lois where more than mother and daughter but real loyal friends.

Patty was preceded in death by her father and mother, Rynold and Lois Freier, long term friend, Donald Burt, mother and father-in-law Alvin and Margaret Peterson, sister-in-law Diane Kennedy, niece Stephanie Lohrenz, nephews Jason Henry and James Dahn.

Survived by her husband, Duane Peterson, sisters Vicki Mills (Dennis), Bonnie Henry (Earl), brother Gene Freier (Michelle); Nieces, Dawn Rapport (Micah), Michelle Mills (Kevin), Rachel Holst, nephew Brian Mikkelson (Heather); Great nephews, Alexander Pietsch (Emily), Colton Mills (Jaclyn), Christian Lohrenz, great nieces Madalyn Mills and Moriah Lohrenz. In addition to several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral service will be at Bethel Covenant Church on Friday, May 23, 2025. Visitation will be from 11-1pm and the service will follow at 1 pm with Pastor Joel Osterlund officiating. Burial will follow at Moeville Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to Moeville Bethel Cemetery Fund.

We want to thank Methodist Hospital for the loving expertise and the unbelievable care that they gave to Patty and a special thank you to Pastor Todd for his loving personal care to Patty and her family.
