Peter Allen Hansen, 82, of Lake City, died Tuesday, February 17, 2026 in Tavares, Florida.
Peter was born January 2, 1944 in Stillwater, MN. to Martin and Andrella (Hill) Hansen. Peter grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School, class of 1962. After high school he attended Dunwoody Institute where he earned degrees in Industrial Elect in 1964 and Auto Elect in 1965. In 1966 Peter enlisted in the MN National Guard. He served in the military until his honorable discharged in 2002. Peter married Jane Bliss On September 9 1967 in Stillwater, MN. The couple made their home in Lake City and in 1972 they took over ownership of the family business that his father started in 1952, Hansen’s Harbor. Peter loved the business, his family, and the Lord. Dedicating his whole life to his family, Hansen’s Harbor, his faith, and to helping others. He was a very humble man, not one to boast about his numerous accomplishments.
Peter was a man who loved to live and work on the river. Peter & Jane loved to spend the winter in the warm Florida weather. To get there he would pilot his boat all the way down the Mississippi River to the gulf and eastward along the Florida coast. Peter completed half of The Great Loop making many memories and friends along the way.
His faith took center stage in his life, and he was a longtime member of Valley View Assembly of God Church in Lake City. He was also a past member of Toastmasters and Cannon District Boy Scouts of America where he mentored both of his sons to earn the rank of Eagle scout.
He is survived by his son, Steven (Christina) Hansen of Apopka, FL; five grandchildren, Carissa, Christian, Nadia, Alaina, and Ericka; 1 great-grandchild; as well as other extended family and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jane; son, Allen Hansen; his 3 siblings, and his parents.
A funeral service for Peter will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the Valley View Assembly of God Church with Rev. Orin Sandberg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. A burial with full military honors will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
