Philip Tupper

Philip John Tupper, 56, of Mazeppa, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, at home surrounded by his family after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Phil was born in Zumbrota, on February 8, 1968, to Duane and Marla (Schulz) Tupper. Phil graduated from Mazeppa High School in 1986 and the University of Minnesota-Waseca in 1988 with a degree in Agricultural Production Management. He met Marissa Miller in high school through wrestling his senior year. They were married September 21, 1991.

Phil worked many jobs throughout his life including Milk-Away Dairy, Arendt's Holstein Resort, Seneca Foods, Maple Island, Roberson Lime and Rock, Groth Implement, and Zumbrota Drivetrain; but his favorite job was coming home every night to raise his livestock and his children.

Phil enjoyed attending his boys activities, spending time with family, solving world problems in his brother Paul's shop, 4 wheeler rides with his side kick Rocky on back, and raising cattle and hogs. He was a gentle teddy bear who looked intimidating if you didn't know him. He was quick to smile and tell people he was "fantastic" or to say "every day is a good day when you're me". He was looking forward to becoming a grandpa to his first grandchild at the end of August.

Phil was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church.

He is survived by Marissa, his wife of 32 years; their children, Seth (Allie), Luke (Maddie), and Gabriel; mother, Marla Tupper; brothers, Paul (Bev), Peter (Chris), Eric (Barb), and Matt (Joleen).

He is preceded in death by his father, Duane Tupper; paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Dorothy Tupper; and maternal grandparents, Reinhold and Edna Schulz.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, June 25th at Mahn Funeral Home in Zumbrota. 

Memorial service will be at 10:30am on Wednesday, June 26th at United Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Marggi Pleiss Sippola officiating.
