Richard Amos McLaughlin, 80, of Red Wing, died Saturday, September 19, 2026 at his home. He was born June 10, 1946 in Red Wing to Henry and Pauline (Andreson) McLaughlin.
For more than 39 years, Richard worked for ProAct. He made lots of friends and enjoyed his time there. Richard really enjoyed the simple things in life that brought him comfort and happiness. One of his favorite activities was going out to get cheeseburgers and enjoying a good meal. He also loved going for rides in the van, taking in the scenery and getting out into the community. Spending time with his son was very important to him, and he always enjoyed their visits together. Richard liked watching movies, especially when he could relax and unwind with a good film. Another thing he looked forward to each day was having a cup of coffee, which was one of his favorite simple pleasures. These activities brought Richard joy and helped make his days meaningful and enjoyable.
He is survived by one son, Andrew Lemmer; and a sister, Ruth Ann Ranieri. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Bonnie Clark.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at First United Methodist Church in Red Wing with Rev. Julie Kocher officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
