IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Murray
Braid
February 2, 1948 – February 5, 2026
Richard (Dick) Murray Braid, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 5th, 2026, surrounded by his wife Lisa and loved ones.
Richard was born in Mentor, Ohio, to his devoted parents, Murray and Bertie “Bert” Braid. From an early age, he lived by the values of service, curiosity, and integrity—earning the rank of Eagle Scout, a distinction he carried with pride throughout his life.
He served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Texas, an experience that helped shape his lifelong sense of discipline and ingenuity. Richard later graduated from Tri-State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Dick married Lisa Trelstad on April 27th, 1996, in Lake Geneva, WI. They celebrated their love and devotion of 30 years to each other surrounded by family and friends.
Dick spent 26 years at IBM, where his work allowed him to make a difference in data storage and allowed him to travel the world. He later owned and operated a small business in Minnesota with his wife, Lisa, a partnership that reflected their shared work ethic and deep bond.
Dick found great joy in nature and time spent with family and friends. Time in Canada held a special place in his heart, where he loved fishing, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories across generations. He also enjoyed pheasant and duck hunting, golfing, and spending time at their home in Arizona. Whether at the cabin, in Arizona, or at home, Richard cherished laughter, good wine, and cooking dinner alongside Lisa.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Braid; his son, Zach (Erin) Braid, and grandson, Henrik Braid; his brother, David (Becky) Braid; nieces, nephews, and extended family members along with many cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Murray and Bert Braid; his grandparents; and his beloved grandson, Daelon and father-in-law Arly Trelstad.
Dick lived by the motto “Keep It Simple” which he did.
He will be remembered for his steady presence and his legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he created.
Memorial service and celebration of life to follow on April 18th, 2026. Further details to come.
