Richard L. Wood age 61 of Lake City died February 25, 2006 at the Lake City Hospital. Richard was born November 17, 1944 in Alma, WI to LeRoy & Mildred (Bechel) Wood. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1962. He entered the Navy in 1962 and served during the Vietnam War and the Bay of Pigs Conflict in Cuba. He was discharged in 1966. He then married Sharon Deyo September 24, 1966 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Lake City. He worked a short time at Di Acro in Lake City. Richard then worked at Northwest Airlines from 1966 to 1972. In 1972 they moved back to Lake City and he worked for Tennant & Hoyt currently Cargill (Horizon Milling) in maintenance as an electrician. He retired in 2004 after 32 years, do to health problems. He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Lake City, H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) and AMA (American Motorcycle Association). He is survived by his wife, mother Mildred Wood of Lake City; one daughter Debora (Al) Morgan of Newport News, VA; one son Daniel (Nicole) of Rogers, MN; five grandchildren Ann Bowden, Alvin Morgan III, Robert Morgan, Brittany Wood, Sydney Wood; two great grandchildren Brianna White, Christian White; two sisters Judy (Dave) Britton of Estes Park, CO, Linda (Neal) Schafer of Red Wing; one brother Jerry (Kathy) Wood of Arkansas, WI. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister Pam Banks. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday March 2, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Father James Russell officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the services at the church. Military rites will be handled by VFW Post #8729 and American Legion Post #110.
