Robert James Guenther, 75, of Red Wing, died Monday, February 12, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 2, 1948, in Red Wing to Bernard and Dorothy (Laqua) Guenther. He grew up in Zumbrota and graduated in 1966 from Zumbrota High School. He married Julie Foster and they later divorced. He was employed for 18 years at SB Foot Tannery and then continued his education for welding and carpentry. He then owned and operated his own business, Wacouta Exteriors, until his retirement. Bob married Mary Jensen in 1996. They were able to enjoy 28 years of married life, traveling to Mexico for many of those, and also going to Alaska and Germany. Bob enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time at the cabin near Osceola, WI. He taught his grandchildren how to fish and enjoyed his time spent with them. Living in the country, he had the opportunity watch all the wildlife that would wander up to his home. Most of all he cherished the time spent with his family.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; children, Tamie Guenther, Angie (Joey) Taylor, Jason (Amanda Nord) Guenther, Michelle (Joe) Yeatman, Tina (Dan) Jacobson and Sara Madden; 14 grandchildren; Justin, Danielle, Taylee, Trayce, Teyha, Charlee, McKinzee, Whitnee, Seth, Sophia, Olivia, Teagan, Kaine and Sophie R.; three great grandchildren, Mylee, Jule and Lenni; three sisters, Marie Robinson, Eileen (Dennis) Bauer and Bette (Albert) Miller; two brothers, Gerald Guenther and David (Sue) Guenther along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bernie and Michael.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024, at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Burial will be at the Wacouta Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family. Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
