Robert Lee Nybo, 86, of Red Wing, died Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Deer Crest. He was born February 10, 1938 in Red Wing, Minnesota, to Robert and Eloise (Oslund) Nybo. He was a graduate of Red Wing Central High School and Gustavus Adolphus College. On June 25, 1960, he married Karen Schendel. He worked with his father, as the second generation of the family business, Nybo’s Café and Bowling and then Nybo’s Landing, taking over after his father retired. Owning his own bowling alley also had its benefits, as he was an excellent bowler and had been a member of the 300 Club, bowling several 300 games. Bob was an avid duck and turkey hunter and was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and founding member of the local chapter. It is no surprise he was a true outdoorsman and he loved to share his passion for fishing, hunting, wildlife and nature with his wife, children and grandchildren. For many years, he worked as a fishing guide on the river and through his connections, had the opportunity to guide many notable people. Bob and Karen also spent numerous summers at their cabin in Two Rivers, WI where they enjoyed hosting family and friends. In addition to the National Wild Turkey Federation, he was an avid supporter of the Red Wing Environmental Learning Center, Ducks Unlimited and the Red Wing Wildlife League. He also belonged to First Lutheran Church and the Red Wing Elks Lodge BPOE #845.
He is survived by his 3 children, Christopher Nybo, Timothy (Marisa) Nybo and Liza Nybo; grandchildren, Austin, Anika, Anders, Skylar and Josie; and 2 sisters, Susan (Maurey) Anderson and Sharon (Jon) Velander. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, and his wife Karen in 2022.
