Robert Arnold Ulrich, 88, of River Falls, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Sycamore of River Falls. He was born on December 10, 1937, in Owen County, Indiana, to Charles and Ethel (Minnick) Ulrich. His family moved to Michigan, where he graduated from Coopersville High School in 1956. He went on to attend Purdue University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture in 1961. He farmed for a time in Lowe, Michigan before moving to Minnesota. He married Dona Bergmark on May 15, 1971, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa and they lived in the Ellsworth/Prescott, Wisconsin area. Robert worked for Northstar Steel in Newport, Minnesota, as a production foreman. He and Dona later moved to Marion, Ohio, where he worked for Marion Steel as a supervisor, retiring after 13 years in 2005. They returned to Wisconsin and he worked for Lakeside Foods in New Richmond. Robert was a fisherman and a hunter. In his retirement, he found time to collect duck decoys and carved his own. He enjoyed doing family genealogy and ancestry from Owen County, Indian as well as refurbishing old Tonka toys. His work on replica steam engines and old farm equipment was donated to the Edward Hueber Memorial Museum in Marion, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Dona Ulrich; daughters, Georgina (Dave) McDonald, Doreen Ulrich L’Allier and Karen (Wes) Ulrich McGuff; son, Jeffrey (Jamie) Ulrich; sister, Rita (Lonny) Hastings; brother-in-law, Alvin (Lou) Vissers; step-grandson, Kole Nickell; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Ronda and Rebecca.
A celebration of Robert’s Life will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 11 a.m-1 p.m. with a time of sharing at 1 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Ellsworth Chapel in Ellsworth, Wisconsin.
