Robert "Bob" Sward

Robert “Bob” Folke Sward, 95, of Red Wing, died Sunday, October 29, 2023 at the Benedictine Living Community.  He was born July 1, 1928, in Red Wing, to Folke and Wilma (Calstrom) Sward.  He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1946.  On July 16, 1949, he married Lois Swanson. He worked for the Red Wing Shoe Company as a credit manager for 33 years until his retirement.  Bob was a member of First Lutheran Church, Red Wing Elks Lodge BPOE #845 and Red Wing YMCA which he had been a member of for 83 years and had been involved with the Heritage and Y’s Men’s Clubs.  He was also an avid MN sports fan.

He is survived by two sons, Kent (Jodi) Sward of Woodbury and Richard (Edie) Sward of Frontenac; grandchildren, Kristine (Jeff) Zell, Erik (Heather) Sward, Laura (Jordan) Hafiz, Nicole Sward, Jeana (Tim Spears) Sward and Jedrick Sward; great-grandchildren, Nova Spears, Mason and Lila Zell, Shay, Braeton and Lindyn Sward; a brother, Curtis (Lanie) Sward; one niece , Ani; step-grandchildren, Bryan (Brittany) Grimley, Matthew (Maria) Grimley and Elliot (Emily) Grimley; step great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Walter and Hendrix Grimley and special family friend, Amy (John) Ferrin and her children, Taylor and Taryn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois Sward and special friend, Rita Engeldinger.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2023 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Michael Zaske officiating.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Memorials preferred to First Lutheran Church.   Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
