Roberto Garcia was born in Cuba on January 8, 1948. He came to America as one of the “Boat People” in 1980. He left his large family of siblings and a mother in Cuba. His sister Maria, came to Florida also. He did not get to see Maria after he left Florida. Upon leaving Florida he traveled to a few states and then he moved permanently to Red Wing, MN. in the 90’s.
Roberto started his own business of doing yardwork and snow-removal. He stayed very busy fulfilling his client’s workload with a smile. Roberto or Bobby as he liked to be called had many friends. The Bank Ladies that gave him coffee, the gas station owner where he got good advice, his neighbors and land lady that watched over him, Calvin his TV and Baseball watching buddy, Ken and Barbara’s house where he received good food and celebrated holidays and there was also many more friends that he visited though out his day.
He started fighting cancer January 2025. It was a brave battle with many appointments and procedures. He wanted to live and he expressed his love of God though out this fight.
He died early morning, Monday, August 3rd, 2026 at The Emeralds in Faribault, MN.
What everyone will miss is seeing this short ponytailed Cuban man walking with his lawn mower or shovel, down the streets of Red Wing giving you a big smile.
