Ronald L. Ehlers

Ronald Leon Ehlers, 76, of Red Wing, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born in Lake City, Minnesota on April 13, 1950 to Harold and Berniece (Roberts) Ehlers. Ronald graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1968. He worked for the Red Wing Shoe Company in the shipping department before enlisting in the United States Air Force where he served for four years. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Red Wing Shoe Co. until he retired in 2012.

Through the years Ron enjoyed fishing, golfing, vacations in Brainerd and traveling around the country. His greatest love was spending time with his three grandkids, attending their sporting events and watching their achievements as they grew up.

Ron is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wendy; his two children, Michelle (Ben) Strom and Michael (Kristi) Ehlers; three grandchildren, Brianna Strom, Hailey and Dixon Ehlers; his two brothers, Duane (Linda) Ehlers and Russ (Brenda) Ehlers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Berniece Ehlers and his in-laws Marvin and Bernice Swanson.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2026 at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing with a visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Red Wing Youth Sports Association, or the Red Wing Municipal Golf Corp. (Mississippi National Golf Links).
