Ronald Gernentz

Ronald Edward Gernentz, 76, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Oct. 1, 1947, in Red Wing to Vincent and Doris (Arden) Gernentz. He attended Red Wing Schools and worked various jobs. He then served in the US Army from 1966-1968, during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he returned to Red Wing and worked for 30 years at UPS. On January 17, 1975, he was united in marriage to Barb Smith. He was a member of the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 and the Burnson Lillyblad Post # 1218. Ron was active in the Red Wing Amateur Baseball as part of the grounds crew for many years

Ron is survived by his wife, Barb; two sons, Chad (Jess) Gernentz of Farmington and Brett Gernentz of Red Wing; seven grandchildren, Chase (Kendall) White, April, August, Gracy, Marlee, Niko and Greta Gernentz and one great granddaughter, Scarlett White. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard "Dick" Gernentz.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 in Red Wing. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Veterans organizations, Closet 54 or the Red Wing Field of Honor at Bay Point Park. Arrangements by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel
